Position: Stanley Park Ball board member
Location: Stanley Park Community Centre - 505 Franklin Street N. Kitchener, Ontario
Purpose of Position: To oversee the Stanley Park Ball program and manage the leadership team
Position Supervisor: Vice-president of the SPCA
Duties and Responsibilities:
Engage with and maintain communication with leadership team and volunteers during the year
Attend and lead program meetings (monthly September to December, bi-weekly January to April)
Work with leadership team to provide volunteers, umpires, and coaches with feedback
Follow up promptly and professionally on parent/guardian and player concerns, should they arise
Work with the Volunteer Engagement Manager to recruit/interview members of the leadership team
Support the team by attending and assisting with end of season pizza nights
Provide back up for website updates (such as weather/field closures, entering team scores)
Time Commitment:
This position is ongoing and a minimum one year commitment is required.
Approximately 6 hrs/month to attend monthly meetings September to December and answer emails
Approximately 16 hrs/month to attend bi-weekly meetings from January to April and various other planning, emails and meetings
Approximately 8 hrs/month during May and June to assist with the ball program while it is running (such as emails to parents, navigating team complaints, helping at pizza nights)
Qualifications:
Available to commit to volunteer job requirements
Excellent organizational, written and verbal communication skills.
Great attention to detail required
Experience in recreation or t-ball/baseball/3-pitch an asset
Proven customer service and problem-solving skills
Training and Professional Development:
Basic Health and Safety, AODA and evacuation training provided
Tour and overview of the Stanley Park Community Centre
Opportunities to attend workshops, meetings, and other training sessions pertaining to the position.
Supervision and Accountability:
Ongoing checks with the Stanley Park Ball board member
