Youth Program Coordinator

Position Description

Help shape youth programs at SPCA by sharing ideas, gathering feedback, and supporting the planning of engaging recreation programs for local youth. 


Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Attend monthly Program Committee meetings to provide program feedback and share new ideas pertaining to youth interests.

  • Check in on youth leisure programs throughout each program session and conduct participant feedback questionnaires.

  • Research and recommend new youth programs based on community feedback and trends.

  • Assist in creating the seasonal program schedules and templates.

  • Collaborate with the Program Manager, Program Administrator, Program Co-Leads, and City of Kitchener team to ensure programs run effectively.

  • Assist in determining necessary program changes and updates to youth programs for each session. 

  • Support the start of programs during the first two weeks of each session (four times a year)

  • Assist with program equipment inventory and organization of program supplies for youth programming.

  • Attend and assist with Instructor Orientation Day (late summer). 


Time Commitment:

  • Term Length: Seeking a one year commitment to the role (April 2026-March 2027)

  • Frequency:

    • Approximately 2 hrs/month to attend monthly in-person Program Committee Meetings at 7:00 pm on the second Tuesday of the month

    • Approximately 4 hrs/month to check in on programs, conduct participant feedback questionnaires, report findings to the Program Manager, and answer relevant emails.

Qualifications:

  • Must be between the ages of 14-18 years old.

  • Available to commit to Youth Program Coordinator role requirements and attend monthly in-person Program Committee meetings.

  • Excellent organizational, written and verbal communication skills.

  • Knowledge of youth interests and trends

  • Experience in recreational programming is an asset.

  • Proven customer service and problem-solving skills.
