Position: Member at Large (Elected)
Location: Stanley Park Community - 505 Franklin Street N. Kitchener, Ontario
Purpose of Position: To support the SPCA Board of Directors’ governance and participate in discussions
Position Supervisor: President
Duties and Responsibilities:
Attend Board meetings and provide relevant information, ideas and opinions as a participant in the meetings
Be familiar with the responsibilities of all SPCA Board positions and be able to fill in, as required, such as supporting various portfolios (i.e. food programs, working committees)
Act as a voting member of the Board
Any duties as required by the Board
Risk Assessment Level:
Medium - Position has access to financial and confidential information
Time Commitment:
Attend monthly board meetings (Third Tuesday of the month from 7-9 pm)
Approximately 5-10 hours per month
Qualifications:
Previous experience on a community Board of Directors
Experience in community service and working with volunteers is an asset
Excellent organizational and communication skills
A desire to serve the community in an important function
A team player willing to take responsibility and lead a team of volunteers
Training and Professional Development:
Basic Health and Safety, AODA, Facility Tour and provided
Training and orientation will be provided by the Volunteer Engagement Manager or outgoing Secretary (if possible) within 8 weeks of acceptance of the position
Supervision and Accountability:
Regular check-ins to monitor position tasks
Formal supervision will occur every three months, or sooner if requested
