Purpose of Position: The Content Coordinator supports the Publicity Lead in creating, updating, and managing all SPCA publicity materials — including social media content, print advertising, program guide updates, event promotions, and community‑facing communications. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys creativity, organization, teamwork, and helping community programs shine.

Key Responsibilities
Social Media Content — Create, schedule, and publish social media posts using Canva and Hootsuite.
Event Coverage — Attend SPCA programs and events to capture photos, videos, and live posts.
Program Guide Support — Update the SPCA program guide four times per year, including images and special events.
Deadline Coordination — Send reminders to volunteers and City staff regarding upcoming content deadlines.
Community Newspaper Submissions — Collect and submit monthly content for the Kitchener Citizen newspaper.
Meeting Participation — Attend bi‑monthly program meetings to track program changes and ensure accurate publicity materials.
Content Creation — Design flyers, advertisements, volunteer recruitment posts, and visuals for SPCA programs and events.
Website Updates — Support the Publicity Lead in updating program listings and event information on the SPCA website.
Collaboration — Work closely with SPCA staff, volunteers, and program leads to gather information and ensure accuracy.
Brand Consistency — Ensure all content aligns with SPCA messaging, tone, and accessibility standards.
Support the Publicity Lead — Assist with quarterly newsletters, promotional campaigns, and new advertising opportunities.
This is an ongoing volunteer position requiring a minimum one-year commitment.
Approximately 10 hours per month preparing content, coordinating publicity, and supervising volunteers
Strong creativity and innovation in advertising and content creation.
Knowledge of graphic design tools (Canva preferred).
Excellent computer skills; familiarity with G‑Suite and Microsoft Publisher.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
Experience in publicity, advertising, or social media (asset but not required).
Detail‑oriented and able to manage multiple priorities.
Self‑motivated and able to work independently.
Strong desire to serve the community.
Basic Health & Safety, AODA, and evacuation training.
Facility tour and overview of the Stanley Park Community Association.
Training in SPCA software and tools (Canva, Hootsuite, Publisher).
Ongoing orientation and mentorship from the Publicity Lead.
Opportunities to attend workshops, meetings, and professional development sessions.
Supervision & Accountability:
The Content Coordinator reports to the Publicity Lead and receives ongoing support through regular check-ins and as-needed guidance.
Formal check-ins with the Volunteer Engagement Manager.
